Nook Snowdonia has 90 acres to explore including our own summit, river and woods.

It is also an excellent base to take advantage of all the opportunities for adventure in Snowdonia. Already renowned for its walking, trail running and mountain bike opportunities, North Wales is fast becoming the adventure capital of Europe, home to Europe's longest zip line and the first inland surf lagoon in the UK.

WALK

A walker's paradise with walks that start and end at our front door. Walk the ten mile loop to Beddgelert via Llyn Dinas, and stop for lunch or a pint. Or head up to the top of Cnicht, known as the Welsh Matterhorn. For Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa), the Watkin Path starts about 2.5 miles away or use Walk Up Snowdon to plan another route. Maps and walking guide books are available to borrow, and you can plan your adventures beforehand using Mud & Routes.

Climb

The Snowdonia range has opportunities for all abilities from scrambles to hard grades. Plas-y-Brenin, The National Mountain Centre can offer introductions to novices or provide leads for the more ambitious.

Cycle - Mountain and Road

For mountain bikers, there are trails nearby in Betws-y-Coed or you can venture down to Coed-y-Brenin for some technical challenges. For the slicker tyres, yes there are hills, but with these come some amazing views. Cycle out-in of Nook Snowdonia to ride a number of different distance loops.

Trail Run

Snowdonia has some excellent trail running opportunities. Use Nook Snowdonia as accommodation and a base to run from and familiarise yourself with trail routes such as the Welsh 3000s and Dragon's Back Race. Local guides are available to lead you (email us and we can put you in touch) and ensure you stay on track or you can head down to Coed-y-Brenin, a bespoke trail running centre and follow marked courses. On return, take an 'ice bath' in the river at the foot of the garden or a relaxing dip in the hot tub to help weary legs recover.

Wild swim

If you can manage the cold, discover waterfalls and hidden lakes for impromptu dips and swims on your walk or head to Llyn Gwynant or the coast for some open water.

If you want to dive a little deeper in to the Wild Swimming experience, Vivienne Rickman is an artist, educator and outdoor swimmer who runs creative and mountain swimming days in Snowdonia. Her project #swimsnowdonia was listed amongst 'The 10 most inspiring adventures' in The Guardian and she’s listed as one of Britain’s 101 Adventurers.

PACKRAFTING

Undertake a journey on land and water through Snowdonia’s Celtic rainforest and mountains with Tirio. No ordinary adventure, packrafting is a revolution in journeying. By carrying your own rapidly inflated, lightweight and sturdy backpacking boat, a whole new world of walking and paddling adventures opens up before you!

Surf

Surf Snowdonia is the UK's first wave garden and offers almost year round waves within an inland lagoon. The Crash & Splash Lagoon offers those who don't want to ride the waves a chance to ……crash and splash….!

Adrenalin Seekers

Take Europe's longest zip line or speed underground at Zip World Snowdonia. For those who want less speed but more bounce, visit Bounce Below, where for anyone aged 3 and over you can bounce from trampoline to trampoline in a cavern. If you have a head for heights, then Tree Top Adventures provides an opportunity to get back to nature in amongst the trees, whilst safely secured.

The North Wales Adventure Map has all the latest details of active adventures available nearby.
